The CarChip Pro (# 8226) data logger records vehicle trip and performance data to provide a detailed history of driver performance and vehicle operation. Recorded data includes: trip start and end times, vehicle speeds, rates of acceleration and braking, and any detected OBDII trouble codes. The CarChip Pro also provides additional vehicle monitoring capabilities including the logging of additional engine data parameters and detailed “accident” data for all sudden stops. It can also emit an audible alarm whenever a driver exceeds user-determined speed limits. Using the included CarChip software, you can see the logged data in summary, record, plot, or table formats and also export it to other applications. The CarChip Pro data logger plugs into your car’s OBDII port and is compatible with most passenger cars and light trucks model years 1996 and later. All CarChip Pros require CarChip software version 2.3 or later. Easy installation: plug it in under the dash, drive your vehicle, then download the data to your PC.

Customer Review: Fantastic item to help increase your confidence in your teenager's driving skills.

This product was hated by my teenager initially, but he now sees that it has helped us have more confidence in his driving ability. We use a '3 month plan' for increasing driving privileges, and the car chip helps reinforce that he would not like to have that 3 month period start over again when he is out and about by himself. Works great - we've recommended it to at least 6 parents who have purchased it. It also helps my husband (auto tech) to keep tabs on vehicle performance for regular maintenance. Excellent buy and much less expensive (and more informative) than any other monthly GPS tracking we could have signed up for.

So glad they invented this gadget. Gives me peace of mind, now that I have a teenage driver. I plug it into my computer and can see he is driving safe speeds. It does more but I havn't discovered all that yet. Main reason was to check my teenager's driving speed. For that reason alone it's worth every cent to me. ddj
